Healthy living is something we all strive for, but for virtual assistants, the idea of changing certain habits to become healthier just seems downright stressful. Working from home requires many to live life on the go, which results in us taking the easy way out by reaching for quick, unhealthy foods and making hasty decisions that can impact health.

It’s easy to make up excuses that will keep you from your nutritional goals, but with the right approach and proper planning, healthy living on a busy schedule is very possible and can be incredibly helpful in all aspects of your life.

1. Find a certain part of the day that really drains you, for most, it’s early in the afternoon, and take a few minutes during that time to pause, and close your eyes in complete silence. Not only can closing your eyes for intervals during the day enhance the quality of sleep you receive, but studies have even shown it can improve concentration and reaction time, something any virtual assistant could use more of.

2. For healthy eating, keep a container of fresh field greens in your refrigerator, if possible. Throw in a generous amount of these green vegetables alongside every meal you eat. Raw, green vegetables provide the body with a ton of vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, and phytochemicals, each of which can counteract the negative health effects that come with being overworked, under-rested from a busy schedule. It’s also important to plan ahead for snacks, make sure you eat breakfast every morning, and to stay away from sweets.

3. A side effect of wearing many hats on a busy schedule is that you’re always strapped for time, and so it can be hard to make time to dedicate and commit to a regular exercise routine. To make sure you stay active and healthy, aim to walk for a few minutes every day. After dinner before you go to bed, during your lunch break, or any time of the day where you have 30 solid minutes to dedicate to walking. You can also choose to take the stairs or choose a parking spot located far away from the entrance of the building you’re about to enter.

Along with the tips above, it’s also important to stay away from stress! Even though this may seem nearly impossible because you have a client to work for, a household to run and some personal needs, being stressed out can have a severe impact on your physical and mental health and well-being, and so it’s vital to get enough rest each night and to never over-work yourself.
